KC: A new Penpal Profile

With all the life changes that Chance was going through, he felt that he needed to update his profile on the penpal forums. Hopefully it would still be a good profile and people would still be interested in talking to him… being judged made him nervous. It was one of the reasons that he was glad that Kristopher took all the attention and he didn’t have to.

He pulled up the website and began to fill out his new profile:

Name: Chance Keener

Select your age bracket: I’m a young adult in my twenties.

Profession: I occasionally work as a living statue, mostly I’m just a stay at home dad.

How many pen pals are your interested in acquiring?  I have been having a wonderful time with all of the penpals I already have, and I’ve found that the more the merrier. If you’re looking for someone, I’d be happy to write to you!

A/N: 14 eventually, even if they’re not all at once time. xD Trying to complete the postcard collection and planning 1 location = 1 penpal.

What qualities do you seek in a pen pal? I’m really just looking for friendly understanding people to chat with. Sometimes when I’m home with the kids it is very difficult to get out and socialize. I’ve found that conversing in letters has been a wonderful thing for me.

Do you have a desire to meet your pen pal face-to-face? If our friendship blossomed into something wonderful like that I would love to meet face to face. It’s always a delight to make new friends and see them in person, but it’s not necessary and I’m very busy with my family.

Please describe, in as much detail as possible, your reason for wanting to join the pen pal project: Originally, it was because I often got lonely for adult conversation when my husband was away on various tours that called him away from home. Now it is simply for the joy of writing letters.

Chance, satisfied, saved his updated application and then scrolled through more of the new applications that had come in since he last checked. He came across Jennifer Plevins who had just posted in the last week. She sounded like she might be a good fit for him. She was an inspiring author, and so was his husband… though Kristopher’s fame did help push his books through the publisher’s doors easier.

Dear Jennifer,

First off, hi! My name is Chance Keener. I saw your application and thought that perhaps you would like to have me as a penpal? I’m a bit socially awkward, but I do try.

Er anyways, my husband is also working on being an author, so I figured that we could relate on that level as well. You know, if you have any questions or anything, I might be able to help.

A little bit about me so you have an idea if you would like to write back or not, I totally understand if you don’t want to. Sometimes life and time takes over to, so I get it. But er hi. I’m a dad of two. My son Donovan is adopted, than my husband and I got a surprise when we got our daughter Britta a couple years later. We also have a little furbaby kitten, and we’re planning to adopt again once Britta is a little bit older. She’s still an infant, and I don’t think we could handle two infants right now with Kristopher’s schedule. That’s my husband by the way.

I’ll keep this letter short though so it isn’t overwhelming, and I hope I get to hear from you in the future.

Chance Keener

Satisfied, with the letter he had just written, he walked to the mailbox and sent the letter out. He couldn’t wait to hear from her if she replied, he loved sending letters!
