Fools in love

That first person you meet.
It’s a wonderful feeling.
To be appreciated.
To feel loved.
To get attention.

They make you feel like their world revolves around you.
They build your confidence in yourself.

It feels wonderful.

Every romantic gesture over the days,
you live for those moments.

It feels likes you belong together.
Nothing can ever break you apart.
You plan for a future together.

You share so many firsts together.
It feels like it was meant to be.

You never expect things to end.
They never expect to get caught.

All of those wonderful years come crashing down around you.
You were a fool in love.

But some things are unforgivable.

I figured that it is only fair that I enter as a Veteran as I have been writing for many, many years even though I’m a novice when it comes to short stories. (This isn’t even technically a short story, it is a poem, but it is a story I wanted to tell.)

I want to thank Lisabee for making this challenge, it was quite fun for me, and a huge challenge. There will be a vote at the beginning of next month to determine the winner for April. I highly encourage that my readers not only vote when the time comes, but also enters this fun little challenge themselves. Veteran or novice all are welcome.

This is the link to the forum page on the official sims forums where the challenge information is. Even if you don’t enter, but you do plan to vote, please go to the forum page anyways to check out all of the other wonderful entries. And I encourage that if you do vote, to vote for the best, and that likely isn’t me πŸ˜€ But I appreciate each and every one of you for reading this.

As for this story, and this poetry collection, it all is very personal to me, and is how I’m trying to get out of a rut that I’ve been in for the last year. I appreciate all the wonderful comments that I’ve been receiving on it. It truly means a lot.

  1. Oh, I’m so happy that you entered a poem! This tells the story beautifully. I’ve been enjoying your poems so much this month. Feels like you’re contributing something new to SimLit, developing it in a new direction.

    1. Is it a new direction? Has no one done poetry sim lit before? I figure it’s just like.. Homer? … Uhh that one Greek book that’s just a really long poem. It’s been really relaxing and therapeutic as well.

  2. When I read that last line “Some things are unforgivable” it felt like something was about to go down. Part 2 where she gets revenge, lol. Great story. Poetic chronicle of the life and death of love.
